HONDA TO RELEASE HYBRID ACCORD IN NORTH AMERICA IN '04

TOKYO, Jan 6 Asia Pulse - Honda Motor Co. (TSE:7267) announced Monday that in 2004 it will start selling the hybrid type of passenger car Accord in North America.

The Honda Accord Hybrid reduces fuel consumption to a level comparable to that of compact cars by combining an electric motor and a six-cylinder engine that shuts down half the cylinders when cruising.

The major automaker also plans to release in North America its new Odyssey minivan models, which come equipped with the shutdown function.
