DaimlerChrysler rallies on target-beating GM Q4 figs

FRANKFURT (AFX) - Shares in DaimlerChrysler AG rallied into the black in midafternoon on the back of target-beating fourth quarter figures from fellow US 'Big Three' carmaker, General Motors Corp, dealers said.
At 2.10 pm, DaimlerChrysler shares were up 0.30 eur or 0.77 pct at 39.30, while BMW was up 0.06 eur or 0.16 pct to 36.46. VW last traded down 0.16 eur or 0.38 pct at 41.99.
At the same time, the DAX 30 index was up 11.59 points or 0.28 pct at 4,151.63.
GM said that fourth quarter EPS, excluding special items and its Hughes satellite unit, came to 1.47 usd, down from 1.67 for the year-earlier period, but well ahead of consensus for 1.22.
